Trust is the growth medium in which relationships flourish. A core difference between a place plagued with crime, corruption and poverty and a place which is vibrant, successful, secure and attractive is that the latter has a high level of trust. Where there is high trust, business thrives because there is low theft, low corruption, property is respected and contracts are honoured. Where there is high trust, people are willing to invest money, time, effort, and loyalty because they trust that they will be properly rewarded. A community with a high level of trust is a safe place for children to play and develop, where people are free to interact, be happier and more creative. We must build and nurture trust, deterring breaches and enforcing public accountability.
