Justice delayed is justice denied. Justice must be fair and thorough. Legal processes often drag out over months and years at the convenience of the system and to the detriment of the accused and alleged victim. Justice must be provided as quickly as is practically possible. Where the legal process is unduly drawn out in a way that harms an accused person who turns out to be innocent, proper compensation must be paid to the person acquitted in order to make up for their loss of time, income and health, both physical and mental.
