We have turned a blind eye to those who support and finance terrorism and religious extremism around the world. By allowing ourselves to become dependent on oil and gas, and by accepting huge investments from countries that undermine Western values, we have compromised our security. Security trumps wealth. We cannot enjoy wealth and a high standard of living if we are insecure. There is no sense in storing up conflicts and insecurity for the future by appeasing those who support our enemies in the short term. Any politician or company found to be colluding with foreign enemies, or those who support, them must be punished severely.
