To be authentic is to be who you really are, true to yourself, acting according to your true values and character, the same on the outside as on the in. At the personal level authenticity makes us happier, more successful, popular, attractive, powerful and persuasive. Authenticity within a relationship whether personal, professional, political or international inspires trust. If someone is who they appear to be, not hiding a shadow, concealing motives, wearing a mask or spinning, then we establish a deeper level of relationship with more mutual exchange and risk-taking. In turn, this means less need for regulation and bureaucracy, so that life is governed more by our dreams, opportunity, hope and desires than by health fears and our dark side.
