What values and beliefs are emerging in new generations around the world?

When future generations look back at us, how will they judge us? They won’t be thanking us for polluting the oceans, land and air. They won’t be delighted that we have used most of the earth’s hydrocarbons. They won’t be thrilled about paying off the massive debts run up by present-day voters who choose to reward themselves at the expense of future generations. Does it matter? A healthy tree needs to take care of its roots and invest in its acorns. Old people need young people to work, pay taxes, pay pensions, provide health care, maintain defence and police forces and, ideally, not have a revolution. It is in our own interest to look after the wellbeing of the next 3 to 4 generations.
