We should eradicate all forms of racism. We must aim for a truly post-racial society in which each individual has the opportunity to flourish, reach their potential and be who they choose to be. Everyone must be truly equal, held to equal standards, subject to the same expectations of human potential and standards of behaviour. In our attempts to correct the racism of the past, we have created new forms of racism and pushed our unhealed wounds below the surface where they continue to cause harm. We must redouble our efforts to end the racism of the white majority against minority racial groups. One cannot end the racism of white people by teaching white people to hate themselves, to naively idealise ‘the other’ and to promote anti-white racism and victim mentality in minorities. It cannot be achieved by turning a blind eye to racism, crime, religious extremism, abuse of women and corruption in minorities. These harmful ways of thinking must be made deeply taboo and socially unacceptable for us to make way for a more enlightened future. The collective guilt for past racism and racial feelings of resentment, entitlement, supremacy and hostility in all groups must be healed and not indulged.
